battery drain 19.19

Anyone noticed higher battery drain since updating to 19.19?

I did a 4 hour ride last week on firmware 18.25 started with 100% and finished at 87%. This is normal and excellent and no need to charge the 1040 after every ride, I normally let it drain to below 50% before re-charging

Did a ride yesterday started at 85% and I was alarmed to see it was at 27% after 4½ hours.

I'm hoping this was just a one off.

  • That's the main reason why I bought it in the first place. Now I can't use it on longer trips, not even to commute to my job. Garmin, fix this!

  • In cold weather, a battery consumes more

  • It's not about the cold weather. Driving the day before the update, battery consumption 2% per hour. Driving the day after the update, battery consumption 5% per hour. The air temperature was about the same.

  • I had posted a few days ago about higher battery consumption on my Tuesday night ride. However, battery consumption looked OK during yesterday's daytime ride: 20% battery usage over a 9h:55 min ride, with 40 min solar gain. This is roughly 2% battery consumption per hour or 50 hours estimated runtime, which is expected and what I was getting before 19.19.  It was cold in the morning and screen brightness was on auto. I'll keep an eye on it next week during night rides to see if things go back to worse.

  • I also posted a few days ago about my experience with an 8h ride (97% to 4%). This weekend i did a 5h ride with about 20% battery usage, so, as expected. There was one difference that i don't know has anything to do with this problem - This time i was not following a course and last week it was a 200km Course. Can the battery drain be only when following a course?

  • I followed a 154-mile (247 km) course on my Saturday ride and did not experience abnormal battery drain.

  • I couldn't completely rule that out - although I'd been expecting to follow a course on the one long ride I've done since the update, I ended up cancelling it after loading it. However, I did one ride of just under an hour following a course, and that didn't seem to show any significant extra battery drain. Bit short to be sure, though.

(To save people checking through previous posts, I haven't experienced any significant increase in battery drain, and this continues to be the case.)

  • No, it can not depend of if you are folling a course or not. I didn´t follow a course and it went from 78% to 0 in 7 km.

  • For those that are seeing a faster than expected battery drain are you using any CIQ apps?
