battery drain 19.19

Anyone noticed higher battery drain since updating to 19.19?

I did a 4 hour ride last week on firmware 18.25 started with 100% and finished at 87%. This is normal and excellent and no need to charge the 1040 after every ride, I normally let it drain to below 50% before re-charging

Did a ride yesterday started at 85% and I was alarmed to see it was at 27% after 4½ hours.

I'm hoping this was just a one off.

  • Same for me, crazy drain 50% during a 5 hour ride. All settings the same as before. Automatic background light intensity and background light stays on. Usually I would lose 10% for 5 hours with those settings.

This firmware is botched beyond imagination! Please Garmin allow us to download 18.25 for downgrad.

  • Only done one ride on 19.19 and yes same for me 85% down to 25% on a 3.5 hour ride.

  • Not only high battery drain - I experience constant ANT+/BT connection loss with pulse and power meter. I have done three hard resets to no avail.

  • Automatic bucklight turns off when you touch the screen or when you get a notification. It defaults to manually set brightness. For example, if you crank it up to 100% end then select "auto", the device adjust the brightness accordingly. When you swipe up to exit the menu, it turns back to 100%. It turns back to auto when the light sensor detects significant change in ambient light. This is almost impossible to happen during the day, so it is stuck at whatever you have set manually.

  • For me it's okay, today it went from 86% to 74% in 3 hours with a fixed backlight setting of 60%

  • Same for me today. From 92 to 4% in a 8h ride. Not good. What’s happening?

  • +1

    3:30 hours ride, start 100% finish 60%

    something is wrong here....

  • I’ve experienced this significant increase in battery drain on the 1040 since updating as well. At the same time I also noticed the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone was using a heap of battery also. I was wondering whether there was something happening between the 1040 and Garmin Connect Thinking

  • Having seen this thread, and having a 4/5 hour ride planned for today, I charged the device to 96%, turned auto brightness off and set brightness manually to 10%. As has been pointed out, its VERY easy to reset it to something brighter inadvertently, especially when riding - just a quick touch is enough.

Anyway, I had 82% by the end of the ride. That's fine for me, but I'd say that it's slightly more drain than usual.

Powermeter, HRM and Varia rear paired. Some navigation, but only for a few kilometers.
