18.25 firmware file

Could someone please upload the 18.25 firmware - the 19.19 stopped compatibility with Garmin Basecamp/MapInstall due to a botched or too big? GarminDevice.XML.

Is there anywhere an archive of the 18.25 firmware to download?

  • If you see the update message you always can deny the update (it asks for confirm). Then connect the 1040 to Mac and delete the file GUPDATE.GCD from ..\Garmin (don't forget to emty trash on Mac). Then no update will be offered anymore on next power-up. Be alert, you'll have to repeat this 'delete' action after every sync. Life can be easyer...

PS. @Luko79 My experience with my Edge Explore 2 is similar - a dummy GUPDATE.GCD does not prevent a new update, even when the dummy file GUPDATE.GCD is flagged as Readonly, independent of the file being empty or containing some random text.

  • Looks like the update message isn't appearing, and there's no prompt to confirm the update. Also, the update might come not only from the Mac but also from the phone. I haven't tested this scenario fully yet, but the update came to me from the phone when the file was absent. I saw the update progress bar in the Garmin Connect app. Does it mean there's no way out at all? Just waiting for a new version to fix this bug?

  • it must work with GUPDATE.GCD (capital letters) and read-only attribute. but be sure when you doing it, the BT connection and GE must be off, otherwise it copies the real update file sooner as you copy the dummy and the unit copies it to its hidden folder (the firmware upgrade is performed from the hidden disk storage what you cant access, so it will be 1 step ahead of you)
