18.25 firmware file

I mean the typical gupdate.GCD file.

For the next time... you can copy the GUPDATE.GCD file to your PC from the folder ..\Garmin on the device after Garmin Express synched the file, but before you detached the device and restarted it.

However, there is still a rescue. If you restarted the device with the update file on it, you will get a prompt if you want to install the update now or on a later moment. If you choose for later and connect the device in mass storage mode to the PC you can still copy the file GUPDTE.GCD to your backup archive.

PS. you should enable messaging in your account Settings to make it easyer for people to reach you personally.

I know how to downgrade - but I don*t know any place to download 18.25. (and enabled PMs from everyone)

I downgraded my 1040 because of the various bugs. It got stuck on first time booting - and I had to power it off once more and reboot - then it went through of course fully reset as with any downgrade.

Please tell me how to disable automatic firmware update so that it does not download automatically from  phone or Garmin Express?

you need to make a dummy gupdate.gcd file (rename any .txt for example) and copy it to the \Garmin folder on the Edge. It will prevent every update via phone or GE because the Edge cant process this dummy file but doesnt delete neither and if it exists on the device , the GC or GE wont replace it for a real update file.

Method doesn't work. Sequence of actions: 1. Rolled back the firmware to 18.25. 2. Rebooted 1040. 3. Connected to Mac and placed an empty file named gupdate.gcd in the folder. 4. Rebooted 1040. 5. Connected 1040 to the phone. 6. Connected 1040 to my Mac and launched Garmin Express. 7. Synchronization takes place. 8. Disconnected 1040, it reboots with a firmware update message and loads with version 19
