Navigate to start of course fails

Yesterday I met my cycling buddies at a park, then on my 1040 I selected a Course, then chose to Navigate to start, a distance about 1.5 miles away. The 1040 did navigate me to the start of the course, but then it acted like the course had ended and provided no turn-by-turn directions.

My work around was to simply reload the Course a second time.

Did this happen because the initial Navigate to start also happened to track the end of the route?

Yeah, so my work around is to wait until the course start, then load the course. Sometimes that means that I'm fiddling the with 1040 while riding, so not the safest approach.

Yeah, that's definitely a thing, it's happened to me several times. Although reloading the route is a simple enough solution, it doesn't make the issue any less irritating.
