Garmin 1040 dropping all sensors

Hi

I am VERY disapointed on my Garmin 1040. Typically it drops all Ant+ sensor  2-3 times during a 3hours ride! Only way to restore connections is to store your ongoing ride data, shutdown the Garmin and power it up again! I have absolutely  no extra IQ apps and I have the latest firmware 17.29. It os really irritating to have to stop and start all over! How will it become in these long ride events I will attend in thi summer! I will loose all power information, control of the light.... I will not be able to stop and restart in these big events! Now I really want that Garmin takes the fully responsibility and fix this or send you new working unit to me. Sensor normally connected when I ride: Di2, VARIA 510 light, Favero Assioma power pedal and Bluetooth to Iphone. I have use (or tryied to use)  this Garmin 1040 from beginning of April this year.

I am waiting for a fast fix!

  • i am going to try removing connectiq data fields for a bit. can't see how well wriitten fw would allow a client like connectiq app to screw up base hw services like ant receiver, but hey we are all paying alpha testers for garmin, gotta do our jobs.

fo you have any connectiq apps or data fields?

  • I have some ConnectIQ fields like Smart Lights (not working with overall Garmin FW issue with sensors that can't solve from 16.1x FW, *** Garmin support), PowerEdge Pro and several other fields. And all of they regular stopped working during workouts or regular ride. It's necessary to reinit this fields. "Userfriendly" top of the tops sport equipment))

  • I have been experiencing this over the past few firmware updates, too.  I came from the Edge 530 where a firmeware update introduced this very frustrating problem back in 2020, which, as far as I know, was never fixed.  I moved up to a 1040 and for several months, I thought it was no longer an issue.  Now, it is happening once every two rides with the 1040.

    My sensor list:

    • Polar HR strap - H10
    • Garmin Speed Sensor (v2)
    • Garmin RTL 515 Taillight/Radar
    • Garmin  UT 800 Headlight
    • Stages Left Crank power meter
    • Apple iPhone 13 Pro

Lately, all sensors will disconnect and most will reconnect, but notably, I permanently lost the Garmin RTL515 on a ride and had to re-pair it after the ride ended.  This was a problem because the RTL515 went into a default light mode, which was always-on, and the battery barely lasted the ride.
