1040 Solar Elevation incorrect and gradients incorrect

my edge 1040 solar is reading half the elevation it should at the end of a ride.

I’ve cleaned the barometer port, I’ve set to auto adjust elevation at start of ride etc.

one day randomly it just started reading off track and wasn’t following the roads like the gps was wrong. Then I noticed the elevation for a 1400m ride was reading 500m at the end.

it’s not rectified it’s self and the elevation is half what it should be. I’ve also noticed that the gradients on climbs may read -3% for instance when going up hil? Possibly 3% uphill.

im not entirely sure what else to do with it, the PM and HR etc are all fine the gps now is fine. It’s just the elevation?

any ideas? Wondering if it’s a software or hardware issue.Ilec I say the altimeter port on the back looks clean?

Interesting post because it was a cold damp day. The air was "thick" with moisture. Hmmmm

Then yesterday it was a cool but dry day and the altimeter was working fine. I thought I fixed the problem by a reset & toggling the gps a couple of times and deleting that Garmin IQ app. Now I'm thinking I did nothing to help because the weather was altering the functionality. Hmmm.

same here. both units, solar and non solar, suddenly started to be very wrong on altitude and consequently gradient, tot elevation, vam etc are useless

Same issue. Where is exactly the barometer port on the edge 1040 solar ? The problem went with the last software update but the latest beta version didn't correct it.

I am suggesting to send it back to factory and be replaced. From what I saw on different forums, it’s the only way to fix it. Could be an hardware issue

Similar - sent it back to garmin and they replaced it. Although took ages for them to acknowledge it was an issue. I sent pictures of the garmin not moving in the garden on the grass but the elevation dropping.
