Intensity Minutes AGAIN

Disappointed that the intensity minutes syncing problem still hasn't been fixed since a major update to FW17.26

I'm using a FR245 as well as the Edge 1040 and if I complete an activity with the FW245 the intensity minutes update to Connect and also sync to the 1040.
But, if I complete an activity on the 1040 the activity minutes are increased on the 1040 but they do not sync to Connect and then onto the FW245.

The only way to reliably record intensity minutes when using the 1040 is to also wear the FW245 (No need to record an activity but just wear it.)

Has anyone managed to find a work around to get intensity minutes working and syncing on the 1040 without the need to also wear a watch?

  • Hi , do you have heart rate paired to the Edge for your rides?

  • Yes, I always wear a chest heart rate monitor and I use a power meter.

The 1040 is recording intensity minutes but they are not syncing to Connect.
I did a test ride today without my watch at the start the intensity minutes on the 1040, FR245 and in Connect were all the same and at the end of the ride they have only increased on the 1040.

  • try syncing the Forerunner after you upload the ride to garmin connect, then sync the Edge again after syncing the forerunner.

  • I synced the Forerunner and the 1040 multiple times yesterday trying to get the intensity minutes to update.

I synced the 1040 today and now the intensity minutes from yesterday's ride has disappeared.
The sync direction must have been from Connect to the 1040 over writing the intensity minutes so it shows that I didn't do a ride yesterday

The intensity minutes were over 300 on the 1040 after yesterday's ride.

  • This is driving me crazy made my 1040 the exercise device and fenix 7 the primary wearable and turned off the synching of the watch untill the exercise activity was downloaded from the 1040 and this worked for a few synchs but now it stopped again. Seems random. I suspect if you let the 1040 auto pause or sleep during the activity that the minutes dont then synch. But they show on the 1040 so?

  • Same for me totally random. Garmin-Maeve has now raised a ticket with tech support.

    But I've been here before

  • same here. edge1040 + epix2.

I noticed that not only "Intensity Minutes" are missed but also your hidration and calories ate afterwards (Edge asked for that after training). Its very randomly! sometimes is ok, sometimes not.

I turned off this feature (asking for hidration and calories after workaout) and so far it works - but might be just a coincidence.

Anyway ... it was reported to Garmin quite long time ago ... and nothing so far ...

noticed also that Epix2 sometimes (completely randomly) doesn't synchronize HR data ... It must be some issues internal in garmin eco-system ...

  • Wonder if Auto pause or Sleeping device doesnt effect the minutes, since I stopped for coffee and only got the minutes after the coffee stop. This has happened twice...what a joke.

  • Hey Garmin Team, Former Member and others … it's ridiculous!!! Today … part of HR data were synced. Calories not counted in GC. ARE YOU AWARE that your so-called „eco-system” is useless? Fine if you have only 1 Garmin’s device (which now I recommend) …
