Strava segments

Harpoon my understanding is that Strava segments ONLY work with Strava routes (or no route at all). I personally find it a very annoying limitation but widely accepted by long-time users of Garmin devices.

Have you tried without loading a route?

Thank you.  I see the 8 starred Strava segments in there, so they are sync'ing to the Edge.

I've come from an Edge 800 (mine would have been 10 years old in December!), so live segments is all new to me!  I'll have to build a route in Strava to see if that works then...

Same issue for me. Have been getting Segment pop-ups on all my Strava created routes in the past. My last few rides whilst following my course ( which includes 2 or 3 segments) I get no pop up. Nor does segment data field become active. 

This device is soooooo buggy...and expensive.

Check that Strava is still embedding the segments in the course. View the course in Garmin Connect. You should see flags on the map page to mark the segments. If you do not, then it is Strava issue in that they are not sending that data over. 

Yes I’ve just noticed on Garmin Connect Mobile that my last 2 months or so of routes uploaded from Strava do not have my segments embedded! 
Why would that be? 

Ok so i've just created 3 or 4 short courses on Strava which includes a few of my starred segments and when checking in Garmin Connect..there are no embedded segments on any of them. Guessing this is a Strava issue?

This is weird.  I created a brand new route on Strava yesterday and sync'd it to Garmin Connect (once I'd enabled the right options on the link).

On the Garmin Connect desktop web UI, I cannot  see the starred Strava segment I know the route includes.  I can't see an option to show them if they are hidden by default.  However, if look on the Garmin Connect mobile (on Android), I do see the segment markers:
