POI are not transferred from Garmin connect

I have a problem with POIs with my edge.
No matter where I create my file, if the gpx is not imported with a computer in my edge the POI are not displayed.

Here is what happens:

1. I create my route with the POI (garmin connect in this example). My POI are with the right tag and visible in the gpx.

2. I look at my route on garmin connect iOS and the POI are visible

3. I send my route on my edge (independently if it is from Garmin web or iOS), I have the route, but not the POI. Course points is activated

Other points,

Despite the correct type of POI in the gpx. If it is imported from a computer (deposit in the NewFiles folder), all points are with the generic icon

  • The 1040 supports course points just like the x30 units. No difference there.

  • I want to believe you that the 1040 supports course points, but in the screenshots,  I don't have any single course point that is sent to my 1040... It's course points that I created in Garmin Connect in my screenshots and the course points option is enabled in the 1040 to.

  • If they are in the course & if they are enabled for that course (Course > Course Options (the 3 dots top right of the individual course screen) they should show both on the map as round pink symbols and in the Course Point screen which is automatically enabled when a course has Points.

What profile type are you using to view the course, Course Points ARE NOT supported for Indoor Training Profiles (ie without GPS), they were some years ago briefly on xx30 devices but disappeared the next "improvement" release and were never seen again.Cry

  • If you are willing to share the course file from the Edge we can check if it is an Edge issue or if the points are missing from the file. If they are missing then it could be something with the processes being used to get the file to the Edge.

    I use an outdoor profile

    Here is a test gpx,
    - I created the route on RWGPS

    - The POIs are well in the gpx, because they are correctly displayed in BaseCamp and are listed on gpx file

    - I imported the gpx in Garmin Connect and 1st disappointment... I lose the POI outside the route, but Garmin connect seems to have converted the POI into course points because I can hide or show them from the map settings.

    - Big problem. If I send this route to my EDGE via Garmin Connect, I have no course points left. (From a mobile phone is the only way to do it)

Now, if I drop this file into the EDGE from a computer without going through Garmin connect, magic, I have all my POIs!

If I have a computer, it's ok to re-import my POIs, but a forest environment is complicated. My only device to recharge my POIs is the Garmin Connect app on my mobile. I accept to lose POIs that are outside (even if it is very annoying). But this is 0% of the POI I get back

Try turning the unit back off (and back on) after copying the file.

    2. Is this an iOS or Android phone. What version of GCM are you using?

    3. It’s an iPhone. It’s the latest version of GCM.

I’m not sure how either of these things could have an effect since the course points are in the file regardless.

    4. The files are generating on demand when requested, and are not cached. The contents will differ depending on what is requesting it. Hence knowing how the course is requested and delivered needs to be known.

    5. The file is downloaded. The course points are displayed after you restart the unit. The contents aren’t being changed between these two events.

Note that the file being downloaded from RWGPS.

Connect does create different files “depending on how the course is requested” but RWGPS doesn’t. In any case, it’s the same request (because the file is downloaded once).
