Garmin Edge 1040 Solar - Course Route Navigation Directions are Scrambled / Mixed Up

Here is a bizarre problem that has happened twice now. I have a bunch of courses synched from my Strava. So far so good.

Then I added another course and synched. It was found and I started riding.

The Edge starts giving turn by turn directions for the PREVIOUS course in the list... which happens to be in another city... this is how I knew the error.

Because I never get to that direction/turn, it just keeps telling me the same direction...

But oddly it knows via GPS where the route is and where I am and it does not think I am off course...

So it never adjusts... just keeps persisting that I turn onto a street that is from the OTHER route....

So it is like the ROUTE/COURSE is correct but NOT the navigation directions.

Has anyone had this happen?

The only way I can resolve is to delete the course, edit and save on Strava, and re-sync...

No need to resync. Cache clear should fix it although it will need to recalculate.

Try deleting the cache entry for the course. Sounds similar to this

Oh yes that’s very similar. Cache hmm. I hope this doesn’t continue to happen, as there’sno way I know until I start to navigate. Then cache removal deletes it I assume, so I’d have to edit and save in Strava then sync again…

There is though something wrong with the way it users the cache, various users reporting very odd behaviour including getting directions for courses ridden weeks earlier and in some cases 500 kms away. A few weeks ago I managed to get the lot in one ride, (ghost course, directions for another course, chevrons missing for the course I was riding, random re-route / pause route screens and all of this with turn guidance disabled so it shouldn’t have been looking at the cache at all?

Yes this is exactly what has been happening to me... so I hope clearing the cache fixes it!

Sorry to sound stupid but how do you clear the cache? I have this same problem.

nah it isn't a stupid question as it is hidden... pull up routes, tap the route, then the three dots on the upper right, then cache / clear cache! (If there is cache saved that is an option.)
