how to get rid of the pause icon when at pause (or traffic light)

anyone here who knows how to get rid of this irritating pause icon when at pause or at traffic light or so?

traffic light are ideal to check the map, however this stupid pause icon with extra dark layer keeps coming back just as i want to check the route.

need to push extremely often to loose this irritating layer.

waiting to see how you solve this.

  • Looks like Garmin has still no solution for this.

It annoys me every time when using this device

  • Agree. And keep the screen oriented correctly...like using the internal compass

  • If i'm not mistaken, when the pause screen pops up, if i just touch the screen this disappears and I can check the data on the screen, swipe the screens left/right and so on.
is there something which I do not really understand? Or you just want to skip this one screen touch step?

It's true that on my 1030+ I did not had to do this like on 1040

  • It's true that the icon goes away - for a few seconds.  Then it comes back.  I know that I am stopped.  I don't need the constant notification from the Edge 1040.

  • Some of us ride in winter and have thick gloves that the screen ignores. Hell, I can use bar mitts and thinner gloves and screen response can still be a problem with them (and yes, I know about the somewhat useful screen sensitivity settings). So touching the screen over and over again isn’t a solution.

  • Personally this behavior of Edge 1040 is one of the most annoying of the device and seen that most of feedback agrees rises the question how Garmin is to push to do something about this idiot 'feature' .

Garmin should realize that not all new feature are improvements.

Do you have a suggestion how to inform Garmin in the best way to solve this issue?

Go to Garmin Support.  Put in the device you are talking about in the box and go go to the support pages of that device.  At the bottom of the page is a contact us section.  Pick the appropriate contact option and give the details to Garmin about the issue.

  • I will pay more attention and try to test it on my next ride. I have to be honest to say that I did not observe it but I have done only 200km in 3 rides with the new 1400

  • No matter if you wear gloves or not it should bot be necessary to touch the screen over and over.
I never had such an issue with the previous 800. 830 and 1030+ and I do not want on the 1040 either

You are right guys. It's stupid how it works.
I've just connected the device my my home trainer. When paused, I had to click twice on the screen to be able to see the actual data. A few seconds later another 2 touches and so on..... Stupid. Big stupid idea to implement it like this.
