2022 Europe Mapping?

Europe Mapping is yet to be updated in 2022, across all Garmin product lines, especially significant for 1040 users as currently we can't take advantage of POI category updates.

Last update from Garmin was "to be released September 2022". As we come to the end of September.. any further news?

  • They are out, finally. Installed on my 1040. Initial thoughts from a brief browse.

    • Water stops are there. Not many where I live in the UK but they are there.
    • Still showing a local bike shop that closed more than 5 years ago.
    • The number of roads classified as high traffic has hugely increased, to the point where I’m not sure I can now leave my home safely LOL. Fascinated to know where Garmin source that information. Traffic levels have increased since Covid but not to the extent I’m now seeing on my 1040. The older map, in the case of high traffic, was far more accurate.
  • So I just can't get these to successsfully download and install, it keeps timeing out at around 15% and a download speed of 1.5MB/s - just uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Express to see if that would work and it now won't even sign in as their servers are down (even though they are all green on the service status page!)  What a right royal PIA this is turning in to!

  • Hi Klaus
If we want better data io waterstops is us to do that. Just add the waterstops to Open Street maps and they will be in the next edition of the Garmin map (My "summer residence" area is all getting better from a white spot on the map).  As well you can delete the local bike shop. The map is not an Garmin map, but based on OSM to which we all should contrubute to make it ever better.

    Derk

  • Has anyone had routing issues with this maps ? I am trying to understand if my issues come from this update or beta update.

right now my device make crazy routings, not accepting the settings I make (like short distance).

unfortunately I don’t have the old maps to test

example: here my garmin wanted me to go back all the way when I just needed to do the trace on green (full descent).

tested all options and always this
