Daily suggested workout different between Edge and Fenix

I have a Fenix 6 Solar and an Edge 1040, the two devices are finally showing the same Training Status, Load Focus and Acute Load but the Daily Suggestion is different most days. Today for example, the Edge says 1:55 base ride while the Fenix 42 mins Tempo.

Any idea?

  • Well.. Not what I'd have hoped really:

"Thanks for your email. The daily suggested workouts can vary slightly between the different devices, especially if one if a fitness watch and the other is a cycling computer. This FAQ page goes into greater detail - Top FAQs About Daily Suggested Workouts" https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=QI8yafYMiH1jF1lqX84Gw7

It's good to have, but the wild differences sometimes are still extremely silly for synced devices. I think I'll try TrainerRoad for a bit. It's nice to have built in but I suppose it was never supposed to be a full blown coach.

  • Thanks for sharing. Had the all too familiar Garmin mishap today with the Edge 1040 crashing multiple times on a bikepacking desert ride. This is getting too much...

  • Same here, with Epix and Edge1040. Epix offered threshold, Edge offered base.
Tried to start on Edge an another daily workout from Training-Workouts-Daily suggested workout which is similar as the Epix offered threshold, but when I tap to ride the today offered base workout starts only, nothing else.

  • Hello everyone, Daily Suggested Workouts are not part of the physio true up feature, so they may differ: What is Physio TrueUp?

  • Hi Maeve, thank you for your fast answer.
As you linked, Physio TrueUp keeps sync my training load, and training status - and a lot of another metrics.

If the suggested workouts are not synced with each other on my Epix and Edge 1040, how do my devices know which workout is optimal for me today to keep my training load in range?

As I wrote, my today cycling workout was on Epix: Threshold; on my Edge 1040: base. I did the threshold workout on my Edge (chose free ride workout on Edge, wrote the Epix offered workout down on a paper and followed).

The training load right now on my devices - after sync of course:

Epix: acute load: 370  (+10 load after the workout) and in LOW range

Edge1040: acute load: 579 (+164 load after workout) and in OPTIMAL range

So the questions: what is the true (and optimal) load and range and what will offer the 2 device tomorrow?

My guess is that either the Physio trueup is not working correctly, or the daily suggested workout, or neither. Slight smile

Edit: my training load before the workout was not the same on the 2 device not even after synchronisation and the Epix data was in Garmin Connect. And now, after the workout also the Epix data is available in Connect, the Edge data nowhere to be seen only on device - after a successful sync too.

Edit2, next day: training load and the daily offered workout exatly the same on both devices. I guess the Physio trueup works today.

  • Can I reach out to your directly?

  • Yes, sure, at the e-mail address I used to register here, thanks!

  • Any feedback received on this? (Have the same issue)

  • Hi guys, did anyone get a feedback from Garmin on this recently?
