Daily suggested workout different between Edge and Fenix

I have a Fenix 6 Solar and an Edge 1040, the two devices are finally showing the same Training Status, Load Focus and Acute Load but the Daily Suggestion is different most days. Today for example, the Edge says 1:55 base ride while the Fenix 42 mins Tempo.

Any idea?

  • I have it the same. I don't know the answer but I think what it is that suggested workout is calculated locally on each device. Edge takes into account only bike rides, while Fenix all other activities as well. This possibly causes the deviation in suggested workouts

  • Hi Hedeon, I'm not entirely convinced because the Edge syncs all the activities done also with the Fenix and it "should" have the same algorithm 2.0. Anyway in my opinion, considering they are associated at the same account, one of the two "should" tell the other one which one has priority. Lots of should...

I quite like the idea of the suggestion when there's no event planned and therefore the goal is to maintain  fitness but if the two devices are giving two completely different option... it becomes a bit of a guess.

    Any help from Garmin ?

  • Yeah I’d like to see this answered, most days my Fenix 7 and 1040 have the same suggestions, today and in the upcoming schedule they differ massively. Today the Fenix says 1:14 anaerobic and the edge says 1:25 threshold at very different power, from then on nothing match

  • I can confirm this. F7 suggests me anaerobic exercise, with 4x1.30 steps at a speecific power.

However E1040 suggests threshold. Both synced in the morning.

  • I realise I am in a privileged situation to have this problem but it is super annoying, I bought the 1040 specifically for the integration with my Fenix, replacing a working Karoo 2. The Edge is really good, but today I was wondering which to “trust” and ended up using the F7 to control my trainer. The disparity makes me question how worthwhile the daily suggested workouts are, how realistically they are based on my weeks activities. And I’d love the maker of these devices to provide a solid and full explanation of what to expect, if not a seamless experience.

  • Today Base ride on both, two hours forty five minutes on Fenix7, one hour thirty three minutes on 1040. Same power range, why?

  • Same issue here, F7 says base ride 3 hours, while Edge1040 says recovery ride 30 minutes. Both devices synced to Connect this morning. This has been going on from day one. Why no one from Garmin provide an answer?

  • I've contacted support about this, not to complain but because it is very non intuitive, and if I were less technically inclined I would assume my units were broken because all other indicators would point to this one metric being a priority for being in sync inside the Garmin system. I'll try to remember to reply here with any answer I get.

  • Thanks man, would be interesting to read their answer. I suspect it has to do with the primary tracking device. But lets wait and see. Cheers.
