  • Once again, , you are not being truthful.  This beta update cannot be installed on my Edge 1040 Solar.  This is starting to look deliberate.  What is the intention behind not clarifying which devices this is truly meant to run on?  You must be aware that you portraying a rosier picture than what's actually happening.  What's the benefit of this deception?

  • 14.14

Garmin 1040 stuck on loading courses screen after I put a .gpx file on it. No way around. Held power button restart. still stuck, plugged in computer- no longer sees it.

Totally bricked and useless right now and riding in the AM.

    any ideas???

    thanks

  • Try to force your Edge 1040 in USB Mass Storage Mode. Different Edge models use different procedures for that, but when you search with Google you will find several which you can try if one works for the 1040. Maybe Garmin-Matthew can help you out?
Once in Mass Storage Mode you can try to delete the .gpx file that is causing troubles from ..\Garmin\NewFiles (if it's still there) or from ..\Garmin\Courses (if there it's a .fit file).

  • If you hold power button for 10 seconds and it doesn't restart, I am not sure if there is any other restart procedure. At least I am not aware of any other.

  • Found a bug in 14.14 today: after upgrading fro 14.13 to 14.14, the smart auto drink was no longer working, although it was enabled in the settings. I disabled the setting and re-enabled again. After that, smart drink started working again.

Mail on this issue sent to Garmin.

  • There is a difference in getting the device in USB mass storage Mode by just connecting it trough USB (and force a restart by pressing the Power button for a long time) and forcing it to do that if the device is unresponsive. Some examples I found after a search:
    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=PsxSBlFqTL57tN38aI6m29

How do I put my Garmin Edge into USB mode?

"Try getting the unit in to mass storage mode by plugging the unit into the usb port. Press and hold lap/reset while pressing the power button for about 5 seconds. The screen will go blank – let up on the power button at that time but keep holding lap/reset. This should force it to mass storage."
At least Garmin Express needs to be installed on the PC you use for these procedures.
  • It takes a lot longer to force teh 1040 into USB Storage mode. With unit powered off hold down then lap button and then connect the USB cable. You will need to keeping holding the lap button down until it reports it is in USB Mode. This could take up to 1 minute.

  • Been out with 14.14 today for the first time. Absolutely bang on with no issues at all. The grade is still a bit laggy but nothing major.

Installed on my 1040 solar but had to be done via express as it wouldn't install ota, just kept failing.

  • If i were you I would run like crazy to buy a lottery ticket. If that is not a sign you are a lucky and blessed man today I am not sure what it is!
