  • And if he confirm or in-confirm , then what?

  • So, you confirm this is not a new bug in the 1040?

It is not for me to decide that.
To speak of a "bug", one would have to examine a number of course fit files where users think that Climb Pro does not work.

´s example is simply one case of one climb in one elevation profile where Climb Pro does not deliver 100% what you would expect.

  • My expectation is to have climb pro finish on top of the summit, not 50 meters or 100 before,  this is my logic, and my feeling is that everyone is expecting exactly same thing from this functionality

They are calling lag, delay or whatever, it does not work as it supposed to work

  • I´m still missing the bug fix for power sensor 4iiii precision 3 and conection to Garmin 1040. Drop contact every second. It is working perfect with my old Garmin 810. When will you have a new working software? /Göran

  • I am using Climb Pro since day 1. I can assure you, with 99,99999% that there is a BUG in 1040. I never experience so bad experience in Edge 830 with Climb Pro in ANY Climb. In Edge 1040, I experience a bad experience in ALMOST ALL Climbs I had. Note: with same Routes I used on Edge 830. So if this is not a BUG then there is something really creepy going on.

  • For Garmin to work the issue they will need you to submit files to [email protected].

  • Do you needs only the files or the marks and video?

But how can Garmin team still didn't see this since I am seeing everyone talking about this issue? I don't believe there is not a single guy that can get a bike (or even a car) and do a climb with a route that has a climb!

  • As I reported I cannot reproduce what you are seeing using climbs near me in terms of lag.

Yes I have some climbs that complete before what I would consider to be the absolute top, but not by much. That can partially be a function of the underlying course data in terms of elevation accuracy form the DEM source the course creator is using as well track point density. Also how the spline function that Garmin uses to compute grades is their secrete source. I suspect it works better where the top has a marked change in grade.

If have taken an activity and used the create course from activity function on the Edge and then ridden that course and the climb tops look closer. The new course file is then using a track point density based on your data recording rate and elevation data from the activity.

Garmin may well be reading the forum, but they did ask that issues be reported to [email protected]  email address.

  • The activity and course files should be enough.

One of the new things that the 1040 does is to create climb split records in the activity file. These records are what is used by Garmin Connect to show the climbs. These records are based off of the data the unit records and not the course file. The activity file also marks the start and end points of the climbs using the course data. Thus it is possible to compare what ClimbPro computed as a climb from the course and from the data.

  • Intensity minutes generate as expected and, finally!!!, training load+status+the rest of the Physio True UP metrics are so far successfully getting reflected on my Epix Gen 2.

    I hope I am not dreaming ;)
