  • This is worrysome. What Varia Radar do you have? I have the very old RTL 500 and didn't notice this so far...

  • nope ,this is for disabling turn guidance from course menu, that previously did not work

I think  its not working during the ride, to disable TBT(temporaly)

It was bloody annoying the fact that on the climb I had tbt notification on every corner

  • I have the same problem that the guided navigation does not work on some routes. Only when I deliberately deviate from the route and return to it a little later does the navigation work properly again.

  • I still have a 20-second lag on gradient.

  • Definition for Garmin  Edge 1040  : "You build new house ,  but you take the toilet from your old house"

    Navigation:

    • Issues related to map zooming - map is zooming out automatically , while you are navigating to a point , this happens on every TBT prompt , navigation is unusable
    • Navigation to a point - while you are on the generated route you have prompt to  "OFF route. Recalculate?", same happens with course loaded from time to time , you don't actually deviate , still you have prompt to recalculate
    • TBT's are generated to often , for example on the climb , you are on the main road , still you have TBT on every corner , please include TBT temporarily pause , or change the logic
    • Route calculation error

Most annoying things ( and my feeling that this is hardware problem )

    • Gradient percentage lag display
    • Climb PRO  is not corelated with real word climb (I put an video about this) , Climb Pro finish 100-200 m before real climb, so you have the prompt that climb was finished, but you have to climb 100-200 m at least in the real world (again this is not clear, is this hardware , software, mapping problem? ) still its a problem
    • Change the triangle color for the Navigation screen

    Small annoying things:

    • X button is not always working , or responding when I press it , you have to press at least twice
    • In the main page , after the activity is finish , on the map generated , first row is display Km/h and on second row is the distance , it should be vice versa
    • In the previous beta (14.12) it was a problem with lap button ,if you have one notification at the same time(like TBT) , you don't have Lap notification
    • I don't find the option for the Varia , to start when you start the activity or when you open the Garmin

Improvements to be made (it will be ever?)

    • Varia Radar add temporarily mute button  - or to be configured per Activity profile , not as Global
    • Change the notification text , include overlay , when you are on the climb , and you have TBT notification , it should not mask the fields bellow , but it does
    • Same with Varia radar car notification , they are masking active fields , it should be transparent ,  Wahoo implement this much better , fields are dynamically adjusting to not mask the fields
    • Add possibility to sort  activity profiles
    • Workout page to display all the Workout steps (via toggle button)
    • Add color for HR and Power based on the zone , add the colors on the workout block
  • I seem to have issues with workouts being synced from TrainingPeaks. In GarminConnect on iOS everything is fine and I see the scheduled workouts. However, on the Edge 1040 I do not have the consistently synced and it seem to me that they are overwritten by Garmin's recommendations. Does anybody have similar experiences or - even better - a fix?

  • Deviate from course to get navigation working- I've done this in the past. Not sure what version.

You simply can check if your course_fit file is the culprit:

Load your course_fit file into Basecamp (or similar program).
Simply check, if the top of the climb on the map correlates to the stored elevation profile:

Here a test course fit file which was generated by RideWGPS.

If the course file seems to be ok then watch your GPS position on Edge next ride.
If it's ok, too, and ClimbPro tells false top of climb - ok, then there's a bug in ClimbPro...

(You also may submit your zipped course_fit file and tell us the km of the climb)

  • I've got the problem, that the garmin calculates my fitness age five years too high, because my "resting HR" is always the average heartrate of my last ride! I added the resting HR manually in Garmin Connect (and it was transferred to the 1040) but after my ride today, it still said: "your resting heartrate is 132".

Second problem - in the app I set my "weekly intensity goal" to 350 - but the garmin still says "your goal is 150"! How can I change it?

    Thank you.

    Stefan

  •  - Can also confirm the Di2 Button issue has been resolved.
