Zooming-in by itself with autozoom off

The map of my 1040 Solar (12.16) automatically zooms in (typically to 120m) after zooming out during a ride. This happens seconds to minutes after the zoom-out action. ‘Automatic zoom’ is disabled in the profile settings (/navigation/map).

Anyone the same experience? Any suggestion?

  • Same , I was following VP for a segment , zoom in then after few sec it's zoom out

  • The same with mine- non solar

  • I also see exactly the same behaviour, non solar, 12.15 and 12.16 Firmware. Sometimes zooming in and zooming out additionally seem not to work well, and I have to touch the + or - buttons several times.

With me, it is not 120 m but 300 m. Possibly, it is the zoom level, that was set before hitting the start button, but I did not test that carefully. When on a ride, it always switches back to the same zoom level.

  • Good suggestion. I tried today, it seemed it is the zoom level that was set before the last shutdown (in this case set to 200 m). After each zoom action, it consistently jumped back to 200m in the first 75 km of the ride. After that, the unit suddenly took 500 m as the default zoom level.

  • Yes same. Wanted to see the entire route I was on today at a glance, and it kept zooming in. Changed zoom to off in profile, and then was annoyed to find it zooming in anyway. Figured it was a bug and am glad to see others having the same experience.

  • Same issue here, just the other way round. Mine is zooming out to a very large scale. I can zoom in, but the map jumps back to the large scale map just after a few seconds. Also, after zooming once, the + / - buttons seem to freeze for some time, and I have to wait another couple of seconds until the touchscreen is responding again.

  • Same here, running 12.16. Very annoying… Triumph

  • The following hack seems to work: When you change the zoom level, as we know, it will flip back to the old scale typically in a couple of seconds later. However, when you, before the scale changes back, swipe to the next screen, and then swipe back, the scale seems to be persistent.

Of course, it is still nasty and very strange, that such a bug is not detected during testing in the development cycle. Hopefully it will get fixed soon. Doesn't sound like a hard to find and fix bug.

  • Same here - I also use your workaround with swiping to next page and back.
