What modifications would you like to be included in future firmware versions?

I would like to ask you what modifications of the current firmware would you like to be in the new versions? Please write a few words about how these modifications should look and function. The first modification I have in mind is the color steress score bar chart. When assessing stress after exercise, a number is shown and a marked arrow appears in a pie chart in a specific zone and color. However, all these measurement results on the bar chart are white and do not reflect the color of the zone in which the measurement result was.

  • it appears to be able to only use one of other.   This is not so useful on ultra races / gand fondos,  / double centuries etc.   I don’t want to go through creating 200 miles  of  left turn , right turn cues,  when Garmin can do it very well these days,  just so i can have 5 custom points along the way eg water, food, rest, phone home,

    The 1040 should let you use both (all of the older units let you use both).

    The problem is with Garmin Connect (not the unit) and how it is creating the FIT file.

    RidewithGPS includes the the generated turns and custom course points. (You need a subscription to be able to add custom cue items).

    Having the option of excluding the generated turns would be useful (some people might not want both the “turn guidance” and the course points).

  • (first I have the subscriptions so thats not part of this. i can create and expert them no probe.  also RWGPS no has carmin connect integration)

    With a few more rides under my belt, it seems not quite as simple as I thought;

    Some custom course points do show up, however it look over 20 hour of riding before I noticed the first one !  The key issue is that the following;

    1. on the unit , they do not display on the map (they do on both the web an ios version of Garmin connect.
    2. the duration on screen is very short, watchin the road, and you will miss it - see point three.
    3. they is no audio notification. (it wold be preferable to have a bleep, and a voice message reading "Course point: the text i entered, water stop or what ever)

    Because i have missed all but 2 of my course points over 500 miles of riding !  i strugle to trust them.  do they all show up and i miss them? or do only certain type show up , i so far have has one water, and one star of climb). bot had different icons.  does it recognise all types, does it display unknown tiypes or type is does not have an icon for?

    I do wish to add that i am rapidly becoming a very big fan of the 1040 and I just wat to hel make it the best this out ther.

  • "It would also be a mess if left it on." i agree, it should say have a max of  1 , 3  or 5 min selectable ?  I can see training scenarios where i migh be usefull.

  • Tempe support similar to new Edge Explore

  • Yes, I agree it could be useful for that. (I also pointed out having a time limit.)

    It wouldn’t be that useful to very many people. I’m not sure if it makes sense to use up coding space that could be used for something more useful (or more marketable).

    These are rather slow computers. Garmin has to be picky about what to add.

  • on the unit , they do not display on the map (they do on both the web an ios version of Garmin connect.

    The generated and custom (I tried a bunch of them) course points in a RWGPS route show up on the 1030+. On the map and on the course point list.

    If you download the route wirelessly to the unit, you might need to turn the device off and on again to see the course points.

    the duration on screen is very short, watchin the road, and you will miss it - see point three.

    They don't show up very long. I think they get a chirp on the 1030+ (there was a chirp on the 800).

    If you also have "turn guidance" enabled, you might miss the course-point chirp.

    For important points, you can repeated it close together.

  • it appears to be able to only use one of other.

    There seems to be an issue (since 12.16?) where the "Turn Guidance" can not be disabled and this causes problems with Course Pt related field displays

  • In RWGPS you can disable the generation of the "turn" cue entries (course Points) or can clear them from a previously created course. As you say if you have a paid membership you can add "custom" ones.

    A problem occurs if you want to download the course via Garmin Connect "Connection to RWGPS as it strips out all Course Points from the connected transfer or just import into GC

  • Training Power on Connecti IQ Data Field does this beautifully!

  • Just the ability to use it as a bluetooth remote would be awesome. Have a widget with a Pause/play and skip track button that controls whatever I'm listening to on my phone. That's all I want.
