Edge 1040 Not powering on

I came to use my new Garmin the other day to find it completely flat, odd that the last time I used it & powered off it had >60% charge. Having since charged (which seems to take an absolute age), I’ve done a ride, powered off & the unit won’t now turn on? I’ve tried powering it via the wall & again nothing. It’s got a power symbol on the screen, but won’t do anything else. Has anyone else has this issue?

  • This problem is still there. I notice it happens only after sleep mode and only after device enter sleep mode due to inactivity. Also battery drain is about 20% to 25%. No matter if it was used, before the sleep mode, for in-door or out-door activity.

  • +1. This happened to me twice this week already. I go for a ride, everything works fine, leave the device in sleep mode with over 70% charge. Next day try to go on a ride and surprise surprise, the device refuses to turn on so I have to go cycling without it. Of course I try to reset to no success, only way it will go back on is by leaving it 1h plugged in to electricity. At this point this is completely unreliable as I can't count on the device to track my rides. This is very frustrating since it is the flagship bike computer from Garmin which you buy for premium, specially disappointing to see from this thread that the issue is common at that Garmin is doing nothing to resolve it.

  • Same issue

thanks - took fully charged to my triathlon and had a total failure on a £600 product.

  • I experience the same issues regulary about once a month.I am using sleep mode

  • I’ve not since had the original issue, it only ever happened once. I ALWAYS now make sure I completely power off the device after a ride, never let it sleep. This seems to have at least solved the not powering on.
