Changes made from version 12.11 to 12.14:

  • Fixed sensor dropouts when using Connect IQ data fields
  • Fixed Power Guide not working for users with high FTP
  • Fixed workout page being removed from the timer loop
  • Fixed segment data screen data fields
  • Improved product stability

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Edge 1040 device to your computer using the USB-C cable.
  2. Download and unzip Edge1040Beta_1214Beta.zip folder.
  3. Copy the GUPDATE.GCD file from the Edge1040_*** distribution folder to the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE_1211.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • New one today with this Beta update, Connect IQ data fields worked fine on the commute in but when I turned on to come home just blank fields where the data field should be. I just had to re-add them but then two disappeared again, re-added them and all was fine.

  • I was in the same boat.  On the canada garmin page you can't even order and wait 5-8 weeks.  All you can do is put in your email to be notified when in stock.  A large country wide store recieved 41 of the nom solar and some shops are supposed to start getting them this week.  I would start dialing for dollars in your home country.

  • The segment sound ls likely just the segment complete sound. I don't think the Edge uses different sounds for different achievements on a segment.

Is the profile you are using one that was created on the unit or one that was imported as part of the initial set-up process.

  • It was imported. I've definitely heard it play a different sound when I lose to the virtual partner (on my 830)

  • Sorry when you guys say 'CIQ data fields' -> are these custom, 3rd-party fields you've added from a previous device? Or you've gone to the CIQ store and added one of the recommended ones?

If the former, how did you add these fields? Mine just default to fields like 'time remaining', and from the CIQ store I only have 'strava relative effort' to add.

  • Sounds like you are using the CIQ store on the Edge?

If you access the store using either Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile it should give you a much larger choice. Using GCM will in turn launch the phone Connect IQ store app.

  • 3rd Party installed thru ConnectIQ app or Garmin Express on the PC (and also ConnectIQ app on the device).

  • While gamin site still says 5 - 8 Weeks a few retailer sites have today listed 1040s and even showing "in stock" but I have lost the enthusiasm for beta testing so might just wait a while for the software to settle down and the prices to settle down too, Good luck with your "awesome" rides.

  • Thanks guys, so went for a ride with the beta firmware just before:

    * 3rd-party CIQ fields worked great

    * Segments worked great

    * Sensors didn't drop at all

The route I rode is pancake flat for 60km so didn't test power guide with a 315w FTP, I will test that this weekend on a long hilly loop
