Freezing by map viewing

The device is freezing during viewing and scrolling the map - only hard reset helps

Is anybody having such an issue?

  • I'm having the same freezing issue but now it seems much more critical: my edge 1040 freezes right after reboot and completely unusable. I tried to restart the device so many times and the results was the same, sometimes it even stuck in the boot screen.

    I have the same problem with frozen unit. I have Edge 1040 first day. When I try to navigate, the unit is counting route and just stays froozen.

    All is up to date. Version 12.16

  • Try build 14.12. That should hopefully address it.

  • My Edge 1040 also freezes during activities on a regular basis. It has probably something to do with navigation on longer rides (100+ km) but it also happened on a shorter one.

    When it happens, the device simply stays frozen on the latest shown screen which stops being updated. It also doesn't react to any touches or buttons. The only thing I can do is hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it off. When I turn it on, it usually freezes again so I need to reboot it one more time. Then it usually picks up where it stopped and continues to both track the ride and navigate.

    But what happened today was much worse. I rebooted it about ten times without any improvement. I had to cancel the navigation which caused another freeze but after a reboot it was cancelled. After that the device still got frozen when I tried to move to the map screen. But when I stayed on the basic info screen, it worked until the end of the ride. I just had to use my phone for navigation which drained its battery really fast (the main reason why I bought Edge 1040).

    +1 for saving ongoing activity data and restoring it after the reboot. But this freezing is super annoying, especially in case of such high-class super-expensive unit.
