garminMoj What map are you viewing when this occurs? Also, how are you accessing the map when this occurs? Meaning, is this from the Navigation widget on the main screen of the device, or while viewing the map from within an activity? Any additional information you can provide is helpful.

Accessing from main screen, can also try tomorrow during activity
garminMoj Would you be okay with me emailing you about this issue? We may need to request a video of this occurring to help look into it. I have been unable to recreate any freezing while viewing maps, through multiple methods.
Sure, no problem...is there any way to send you my email adress instwad of publishing it here
Please do not post this, I will reach out directly.
I confirm such a problem (1040 non solar) -> choosing Navigation->MTB Trail Navigation->and selecting any trail kills the unit immediately and every single time. After 10-15 seconds of complete freezing unit reboots. Other options that involves maps sooner or later freeze the unit. I've tried complete reset of unit, installing fw 12.11 and beta 12.14 - none of it works. I am waiting for unit replacement.
I dont think thats a hw issue - i mean if u ger a swap unit, will be the same - seems like sw bug...but keep me updated once your replacdment arrived
...yesterday I received replacement unit and:
1) "old" unit was reset to factory settings - all configuration data was skipped (to allow direct units comparison havind in mind fw+settings),
2) "new" unit was out of the box
Both units was started out of the Garmin SR shop and have clear sky view, both quickly found GPS signal.
On both units back to back the same steps sequence was selected: Navigation->MTB Trail Navigation->and selecting any trail and... "old" unit freezed every time (3-4 times in a row), "new" unit was much more stable but finally hangs also.
After few hours checking at home:
Using "new" unit it is possible to plan/make route with few hundreds km (not possible at all in the "old" one) and extensive
zooming/moving maps is working much longer/for many tries/minutes (however it is possible that it will lead to freeze finally). If the unit freezes it is not self reboot after 10-15 second (as the old one always does). Concluding the new unit is muuuuch more stable but not perfect.
I know that having in mind the same software/fw/settings status the both units in the same location should work/behave the same way. But it is not the case (which seems odd to me also). We (SR guys and me) checked it and the result was as it was.
I already connect few sensors, download few IQ apps/fields and fw 12.14 and unit seems to be as stable as it is from the start.
Waiting for installing fw 12.15 which is coming to be available soon. RG. ps. Is Garmin-Blake helped/contacted you?
Regardless of the fw version (2.11; 2.14; 2.15), the screen freezes and after a while the E1040 is reset. When I enter Navigation and click on the schematic course of the route, the device takes me to the Map screen and then freezes and after some time a reset occurs. I noticed that with shorter courses the freezing occurs less frequently, while courses over 50 km have not yet been able to open on the Map screen. The map was also frozen while driving (fw. 2.14) and while viewing the map while driving and clicking the (-) button several times to enlarge the visible area.
