Ride Sync over Bluetooth doesn’t work (eBike Data)

Hi,

I’ve got a problem with my new Edge 1040.

When I end and save a ride it doesn’t sync to Garmin Connect if I’m connected to the iPhone with Bluetooth. It works only with Wi-Fi and even in that case I have to force the synchronization.

The Edge connects fine with the iPhone and syncs everything except the rides!!!

I tried to reset the device but nothing has changed.

Does anyone have a solution or some suggestions to try?

It’s so frustrating…. and every time the same with new devices…

Thanks.
Federico

  • This broke (surprise, surprise) on update 12.15. Where is the quality control on this? I suspect it is with Garmin Connect.

I have deleted the connection and re-paired (doesn't that sound familiar too?) But this time no resync. The resync just sits there looking stupid.

  • My 1040 Solar running on 12.16 is hit or miss on Bluetooth syncs.  One ride it will upload almost immediately, and the next it takes multiple forced sync attempts on the Edge and in Garmin Connect Mobile to get it to upload.

I am going to try an experiment this evening by removing the WiFi connection from my Edge and see if that makes any difference.

  • Last night's ride uploaded to Connect right away without any manual sync attempts.  I am going to leave WiFi off for a while and see if this is just a hit, or if it consistently uploads.

  • Same too. Sw 12.16. Every time need to shutdown 1040 and on back in order to sync with iPhone.

  • well pottered into work and ended the ride.GC connected via BT and made sure the wifi hotspot was off.

ride uploaded no probs to GC app so I also checked strava and ridewithgps that I have enabled and the rides' there too so for

my 1040 running 12.16 it appears to be working still !

  • Hi my Garmin fenix 6x and edge 130 plus have not issue auto sync to GC while wifi hotspot or wifi turn on but 1040 was not unable to auto sync via Bluetooth after a ride unless you reboot the 1040.

  • +1, any update from Garmin?

  • You can test off the bike, start new ride then pres save just forbthe sake of testing

Garmin must gather info , as not all devices have the same behaviour

  • This was working, but now it seems to be broken again. Sometimes it syncs immediately, other times it takes multiple reboots and app restarts before it will go. No idea what the real problem is, but I hope it gets fixed. The good news is that it always syncs eventually, activity data is not lost, but the unpredictable nature is frustrating.

  • I’ve never been able to sync activities via Bluetooth yet, only Wi-Fi sync seems to work…
