Hi.
The 1040 solar doesn't support the Supersapiens CGM data field. I have emailed the developer but this is the second major integration which doesn't work
Did any YouTube reviewer mention this?
'YouTube reviewer' checking in. It's impossible to cover ConnectIQ status on things prior to release day as a lot (or most) apps/data fields/etc need…
It has been less then a week after release. I'm pretty sure they will update the app.
The 1030 plus was easy to support as it was not much different from the 1030. The 1040 changed lots internally…
So ein Dummfug.
Garmin didn’t disable any apps (except one wich was made for diving with the Fenix 5).
ConnectIQ requires the developer to „ENABLE“ the app for any new device. It’s all up to SuperSapiens…
declare CIQ itself a failed experiment.
A bit strong scorched earth policy? Its been under a week since it came out. Maybe relax a bit? (You'll get more attention if you don't want to burn everything down. PLus lots of people like connect iq
If the device went into sleep mode and woke back up, the CIQ sensor data field would just show an error. T
Yes, it should be fixed, but there is a work around for it. https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/discussion/2844/edge-1000-generic-ant-quits-working-after-sleep
My suspicion is that Garmin knew that CIQ wasn't ready for the 1040 and that's why they released it with an empty CIQ store and all of the current apps marked as unsupported.
My suspician is you just want to attack Garmin and figure out some reasoning that fits even though you've been told before thats not how connect IQ app work. You have to select which devices for connect IQ app will run on when you compile and submit your app by adding to the manifest.xml file:
developer.garmin.com/.../
For example this app lists the 1040 as compatible:
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/c39b8b25-7ac8-4481-b8be-8899ef12facc#0
They just added support for the 1040 on the 7th:
https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/b/news-announcements/posts/garmin-introduces-the-edge-1040
No, they didn't. As a Tyrewiz and Accuweather user it took both months to be ported from 1030 to 1030+
Why is this OK? What if Apple released an iPhone with an empty app store and prevented you from running all existing apps for one to three months? Wouldn't it be better to just release the new iPhone three months later? I suspect you work for Garmin or are severely deluded.
You're right, I waited before I bought the 1030 Plus in September 2020. It was released in June 2020. I guess I should have waited before buying the Edge 1040. I forgot that a Garmin Edge "release" is really just a beta testing unit for three to six months. The Edge 1030 Plus was so good in September 2020, I just assumed Garmin had stopped outsourcing QA/QC testing to their customers. I was wrong about that too!
Mate, just return it for your money back.
You'll be much happier.
So, Garmin isn't planning on fixing the bugs? I don't understand.
I'm sure the issues will be fixed in time.
It will take developers time to port CIQ apps - it always has.
As I say, it took months last time.
Since you claim the device is a 'brick' without tyrewiz, you'd probably be better going for a refund TBH.
I was planning on waiting for Garmin to support ConnectIQ with the Edge 1040. You're saying they're never going to fix the bugs so I should return it? Do you work for Garmin?
You are not reading what people say and just looking for an argument.
Garmin couldn't afford me, and frankly I've more ambition than that.
Good evening.
So, people are saying -- it's perfectly acceptable to release a flagship device with an empty App Store and zero apps, I shouldn't complain about it, and Garmin are never going to fix the bugs so I should return my device? I don't understand.
