Auto pause - starting delay

Hi.

I have recently purchased the Garmin 1040 solar and have noticed there is a short delay (3-5 seconds) after moving off for the device to go from pause to play.

On the Garmin 1030 plus, 830 and 530, it was pretty instant.

There somes to be an issue with the 1040 solar

I've also noticed this problem. For some reason best known to Garmin the minimum speed for the timer to restart has been set at 6 mph on the Edge 1040 whereas on my other Edge devices it is 3 mph. I've emailed Garmin support but recommend you do the same.

Noticed the same, my profile was defaulted on when stopped (like on my 830). However, 1040 seems to take quite some time before reaching 0 in 5 out of 6 times stopping. Adjusting limits the input to 5km/h, still is often painfully late on detecting being stopped.

I have to check my Edge 1000. I am pretty sure that there is a little bit of a start/stop delay with auto-pause/resume. Not sure how many seconds, though. Honestly, I have to wonder if this is simply a problem inherent with the GPS tech and not with the devices. I can say that as annoying as it can be, the worst offender with start/stop delays is MapMyRide. I always record all my rides, both to GarminConnect via the Edge, and to MMR, via my phone, and MMR's delays are really bad. lol

Gotcha. Also, remember that my Edge 1000 is essentially 8 year old tech, so it may not deal with auto pause/resume as well as the 1030, which is only a few years old. If your 1030 only has a fraction of a second delay, then if anything, the 1040 should be at least as good, and arguably it should be better. Definitely looking forward to getting my 1040!

Overall I've been very impressed. Few things aren't ideal (connect iq apps) but I'm sure they will all get updated soon

Same issue here, my 1030 was very quick to restart. The 1040 can take 3-5 seconds to restart once moving again. Both garmins using paused when stopped
