Reflections are severe on the 1040 solar

Hey all

Just be aware that the screen reflections on the 1040 solar at least are for real. Riding under trees with mixed shade and sun, you will have a very hard time reading what is on the screen.

  • I'll try to remember to take pictures on my next ride. Honestly it's fine. This thread is hilarious and clearly focused on the price tag.

  • 810 was rubish in the woods , 1040 shine in direct light , but in shades area Wahoo is the best as does not have touch but also non reflective like paperinl display

  • Here's mine. Looks absolutely fine.

  • Nice setup and handlebar

is not that relevant, you picture is under sun with some shades, real rest is under the threes and mixed enrvironment

but the point that this device is not an TV, you can cycle without constantly looking at it all the time

Also initiator of this topic has night screen set and most probably the reflections are worst in this case

  • It's not snarky. For sure I was at a different angle to display the reflections. I could not get the photo to display what my eyes see until I did this. In riding position, for sure the reflections are crazy. That's how I noticed it.

  • It's fine to you. I am the post originator and it isn't about the price to me. I specified solar because there are two models.

  • It looks pretty crappy to me, I won't lie. Sure, that's only one angle, and since you don't have both models, it's not like you could do a side-by side comparison. But you are not the first person to complain about the glare on the Internet. I am not even remotely interested in the Solar model, so this won't directly effect me, as I am going to wait a few weeks for some more reviews, bug reports, and any patches/fixes. But I am about 100% sure I will be getting the standard model, as I really need to upgrade from my Edge 1000. Also, from the looks of that pic you posted, that is about the angle I will be viewing it from.

Is there any way you could take some more pictures from different angles and in different ambient sunlight conditions? If that's too much trouble, I totally respect it. I am curious, though, even though I am not buying that model.

  • I did a long ride today with mine and didn't have any issues reading the screen.  It was partly cloudy so the sunlight was variable with a mix of open roads and tree cover.

Hopefully what you experienced is extreme conditions and not the norm for you.

  • Coming back to say that after a ride today, the reflections from the screen are there, but you quickly forget about it

  • I got a Armorsuit MilitaryShield matte screen protector and it works fine. Solar still works as well. No glare.
