1030+ not recording distance despite satellites connected

My 1030+ is not recording distance travelled. I have been using the Edge for the past 9 months with no problems until recently.

The device records speed, gradient, and the navigation map work fine so I am at a loss to understand why its not recording distance. The distance issue starts when I power on it remains at ‘0’ throughout ride.

Other -

When the distance problem started I worked through different ideas including removing the speed sensor in order to record directly from the 1030+ GPS

My programmed segments no longer appear on the 1030.

Recently fitted Garmin Vector power meter pedals

Help needed and much appreciated...getting frustrated ;-)

Thanks,

Sean

  • A silly question - have you started your activity? :D Because while paused it will show you basically everything - speed, power, cadence, even navigation will work, just it will not measure distance and timer will stay paused.

  • another stupid question , did you allow gps to locate your positiin before ride?
is it green? meaning that your devive is connected to gps sattelites? did you changed between modes(Gps gps + glonass etc?)

did you press the start button?

  • I've had the same issue this morning, mine said GPS ready and livetrack started when I started the ride. Set off and distance stopped on 0.02km was a few km in before I noticed when I saved the ride it showed where I had gone but showed distance as 0.02km. Strange. Hope someone comes up with a fix soon.

  • How many activity files do you have in the 'Activities' folder on your Edge 1030 Plus?

On some watches if there are more than a certain number of files in this folder a similar behaviour can be observed

Don't know if this affects Edge devices too but may be worth investigating.

  • Hi randybb,
Thanks for replying. Often the silly questions yield the right solutions ;-)

I think you are spot on. For some reason my device stopped alerting me to start the activity instead I activated it myself and it started to record the distance :-) was only walking in the garden and it worked so will give it a go on the bike tmr.

    Cheers,

    Sean

  • Hi,

Yes located the satellites but it seems I did not press the start button. What through me was previously I was prompted to start the activity however now I simply activate it myself pushing the bottom right button. I recently added the Garmin power meter pedals and perhaps it may have changed the setup. Anyway, I feel a bit daft but all is working now.

Tanks for taking the time to reply.

    Cheers,

    Sean

  • Hi,

Hadn't thought of that. i did check my Activity folder and they are all ok however will keep a lookout in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

    Cheers,
