How can I remove the maps of Africa to create more space for other maps
Thanks for the info but that doesn't seem to work for the edge 1030 plus
It worked for me when I wanted to remove the US maps that came installed on my 1030 Plus.
superfreebiker Are you not seeing this as an option when you connect your Edge to a computer, or do you walk through the process but it doesn't work? More info on what you see/where the issue is occurring will be helpful to find a cause.
When I connect my edge to the PC this is all I see. The GPS does include Africa V6 south and North, EU geocode and EU West
The procedure mentioned I found did not work on Mac I reconnected to a Windows PC which did work.
I have never seen the Africa maps in this list in GE. I assume you can only delete them manually directly from the Edge's file system. Perhaps it is better to copy them to your PC. If you ever need them you can copy back to your Edge.
In this thread someone posted the different file names of all the maps. I have not verified how accurate this list still is?

To verify you can look into each file with any file viewer. It‘s written in the first line of the file.
What to do if an routeble Cycle map is n't in the list.
Try the following.
Connect the Garmin to your PC
Open Explorer.
Choose this PC
Choose your device from the list.
Open the Garmin folder of your device
Change gmapprom5.img (or any other file containing .img) to gmapprom5.img.out
Check with Garmin BaseCamp if the map still appears in the internal folder.
If that is the card you want to remove copy it to a backup folder and then remove it from your garmin device.
