How can close the connect iq app in order to start a ride or switch off?

Today I loaded a route from Strava using the connect iq app, when I tried to press the start button all I got was a beep but the ride didn’t start.

when I tried switch it off it said the Connect IQ app is open.

Close the app before putting the device to sleep.

i went back to the IQ app but now it wouldn’t load.

the only way I could get out of it was keep the power button pressed to fully reset the device.

im sure this isn’t right, I never had this problem on my edge 1000 with any IQ app

Yes the same but I can’t find any solution to the problem.

looks like it also happens with the 830

It's a bug in Garmin IQ.

Avoid the problem by not launching the course from the app.

That is, exit the app and then pick and launch the course from the courses menu,

It's weird. It's not a problem for widgets.

I had to disable the "launch" feature from my app because of this problem.

I brought this issue up to Garmin months ago.

well that worked but I had to select Navigate to get the route to downloaded to my courses. I then came completely out of the app. Even selecting Preview didn’t work.

I do feel though more work needs to be done because it doesn’t make it clear the route has been downloaded until you check within the courses section.

"Navigating" isn't downloading the route.

The IQ app downloads the file (to the courses list) before it offers to launch it. That is, "launching" is doing what you are doing by selecting "Navigate".

The problem is that the app isn't exiting when "launch" is selected.

It's a bug (and it used to work). So, of course "more work needs to be done" (the bug needs to be fixed).

Probably an incorrectly installed map is the cause, update...

No.

Launching a course from a widget works fine.

The issue is exiting the app, which happens before the map is used.
