Edge 1030 Plus 3.00 firmware version GPS problem

After updating the firmware to version 3.00 the GPS has started to have a very low signal consequently the GPS track is highlighted incorrectly and the Strava segments do not start..

  • not realy solve it but i downgrade de software to 2.3

that version has no "support for new GPS firmware"

  • This is the 4.50 GPS software used with build 3.00. Place it in the Garmin\RemosteSW folder

  • I am getting confused by all these posts regarding FW and GPS FW.

When I poweron my Edge 1030 plus I get the message to install FW 3.00 (did not yet accept this). Will that automatically also install this GPS FW 4.50? Some replies seem to suggest to use Garmin Express to install the latter?

  • FW 3.00 is the device software for the 1030 Plus. The 4.50 software is dedicated for the built-in GPS chip only. Both are independent.

Normally Garmin Express installs both if you connect the Edge to your PC. I don't know if there are other ways to get both updates installed. Maybe @aweatherall can shine some light on this?

  • Same here, i had at saturday big problems in the swiss alps. he often lost the gps signal completely, or he placed me every now and then 10m to the left, then 5 back, then 3 to the left, and at the last hour, he never found the signal again. I tried gps only, gps and glonass, gps and galileo, i restarted the device several times, i also did a reset (which worked for some minutes). The version 3.00 is installed and the GPS version is updated to 4.5. i really want to downgrade to check if its really a software issue, or a HW one

  • I have in the past the same problem with my Edge 1030. Garmin made free of charge the exchange :-)
