This has been escalated with new Express logs on the latest version. I will update this thread when I have more information to share.
This is still an open ticket and I apologize for the lack of info. I understand it is frustrating to hear "we are still working on it" over and over, but it is also frustrating to hear nothing back.…

I have called Garmin Support it's an issue with Garmin Express, I was told it should be fixed in the next GE update.

Check that you have the latest version of Garmin Express installed.

I have tried it using Garmin Express on both Windows and macOS (with the current version of Garmin Express) and it does the same thing on both platforms. This does not appear to be platform-specific.

This is another GARMIN bug.
Tried reseting device, removing Garmin Express and cleaning cached data. Happens again and again.
Garmin sells a device with hardware and software like in a cheap chinese counterfeit and price like iphone... No surprise why there are many comments that people switch to other brands.

You can delete unnecessary maps after reconnecting device. Use "Manage Maps" under "Install" button.
Unfortunately this does not work. Within Garmin Express everything seems to be fine. BUT – the files/maps are still on the 1030 Plus after a restart of the device I can still select them over there and after another launch on Garmin Express I can (again) update the maps I don't want to have again and again. Super annoying...
