How do I get a stripped screw out of my Garmin heart rate monitor strap?

One of the 4 screws is stripped and I can’t get it out of my HRM strap to change batteries. Any ideas?

  • The only way might be to drill it out

  • I assume you mean that the threads in the HRM are stripped such that the screw turns but does not back out. I suggest you remove the other screws that hold the case together and gently pry up on the backing plate while turning the screw.

If you mean that the head of the screw is damaged so that a Phillips head screwdriver no longer can engage, you might try a small Torx driver.

What I did was to get one screw out

take the provided screwdriver and pry off the band

    it should just pop off

take a scissors grab the screw with scissors and turn slowly with the band

    good luck
