I think some of the issues you mention are platform-dependent. I have an Android phone and I can:
- see the individual sender or group (WhatsApp for example) from where a message is coming
- in the Garmin Connetc app select which app can send notifications…

I see that happen on my VA4 every-now-and-then. Not as frequent as it was before they updated the app. So I guess this is what we will live with......
Transparent pixels should not be getting rendered.
Main Menu > Sensors > Altimeter > Calibration > Off.
That will cause it to prompt you for calibration once at the start of the activity.

I had this issue today. The extra run seemed to restart the current pace calculation and indicated I was suddenly far to slow.... though my actual pace did not change. It would be better, as you say, if it didn't have to restart the pace calculation.…

Updating to version 7.20 seems to solved the issue for me
