I hate Garmin HRM straps, they cost a fortune and disintegrate within a year with no option to replace the strap only. I just wanted to check if Tactix 8 is compatible with Polar H10 HRM?

Well, my HRM-Pro held more than 3 years (using it 3-5 times a week), so I do not find it so bad, but it is true the strap (resp. the electrodes) failed the first.
However, the last generation of Garmin's HRMs - the HRM 600 and HRM 200 do have exchangeable straps. The price is high, but the features Garmin HRMs offer are unbeatable. Besides the advanced Running Dynamics, standalone functionality (recording activities, Intensity Minutes, Body Battery, Calories, Steps,... without watch), I especially appreciate the much more accurate distance and pace data. 3rd party straps work fine, but the features they offer come nowhere close to the ones of HRM 600 or even the older HRM Pro / HRM Fit.
