Why there's no Tactix 8 47mm MIP Sapphire Solar?

I've been waiting for the Tactix 47mm version with a MIP display for many years and am very disappointed that the new Tactix 8 47mm was released only with an AMOLED screen.

Are there any plans to release a Tactix 47mm with a MIP Sapphire Solar display?

  • Since there is a F8 solar 47mm, it would have been easy. But I guess there are not enough potential buyers according to their sales dept.

But I agree, it would have been nice!

  • Agreed. The 47mm Garmin watches are more widely adopted than the 51mm models. Considering the Tactix is a tactical product line, it makes more sense to use a MIP Sapphire Solar display rather than an AMOLED. Although the screen size is the same on both the Tactix 8 47mm and 51mm models, the bulky case of the 51mm version isn't well-suited for small to medium wrist sizes.

  • I think they should still issue a 47mm Enduro and Tactix. Since most of the smaller companies are abandoning MIPS in favor of AMOLED, it would be easy for Garmin to corner this (small/tiny?) segment of the market without much effort. The hardware and the sw exist. And while I like the AMOLED display of my F8 (47mm) and my Epix Pro (51mm), I use my Tactix 7 still quite often.

  • Hi, I also wanted 47mm MIP/Solar.. and was disappointed that there is only 51mm available, but I decided to pull a trigger and get 51mm one and all I can say it is that it's amazing watch and you get used to the size. My previous watch was Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Sapphire, 47mm.

  • Hi,

I've owned and tried the 51mm Fenix and Tactix models several times over the years, but unfortunately, they’re just too large for my wrist. For my wrist at 16 cm (~6.3 inches), the 51mm case looks bulky and feels heavy, especially in formal or everyday settings.

My first Garmin watch was Fenix 3 HR (51mm) and I've used every Fenix version since then. The introduction of the 47mm Fenix 5 was a turning point for me. That size fits much better and is far more wearable day to day. I'm currently using the Fenix 8 47mm Solar Sapphire DLC Titanium, and while it’s a great fit, I actually prefer the design and rugged bezel of the Tactix series.

The only thing holding me back from switching is the size and weight of the Tactix 8 Solar Sapphire. I believe a 47mm version of the Tactix would appeal to many users like myself who want the tactical look and features but in a more wrist-friendly form factor.

Would love to hear if others feel the same, and hopefully, Garmin takes this into consideration for future releases.

    Cheers.

  • I'm hoping that someday the tactix 47 mip will come out, 51mm is too big for me

I have the tactix 7 amoled and it just doesn't work for me.

The wrist movement doesn't always work and the always-on screen melts the battery.
