Great to see Garmin continuing to invest in the MARQ line with the new Damascus stainless steel version

As a huge fan of both the GEN one and GEN two MARQs, very happy to see new materials versions released.

Suggests there’s a significant enough market to continue to support this line, which is a question I and others who love the product have worried about.

Also good news to see new versions released 2+ years after the first MARQ 2 was introduced, which suggest ongoing support for at least a few more years of the GEN 2 edition.

As a knife nerd, I’ve seen Damascus steel take off and become quite popular even if some critics disparage it as trendy and so on. I personally like the way they designed this.

Yes, stainless steel adds a lot more weight to the watch. But let’s be honest: if you’re buying a MARQ, you’re not just buying an athletic tool, but also a lifestyle product. So making it heavier is fine in my opinion.

Bravo Garmin!

  • Yes, good to see a new version and to find somebody who understands that a Marq is about aesthetics rather than features.

Personally, I found the lighter weight of the Marq 2 a big improvement. Most of the time I didn't mind the weight of the original, except when sprinting, or sometimes cycling over bumpy ground, when I found it distracting. For that reason I don't think I would choose a stainless steel version, even though it looks cool.

The carbon fibre one looks to plasticky for me (but perhaps it is better in the flesh) so for the moment I'm sticking with the titanium Athlete. And looking forward to a future version...

it absolutely looks better in person than the marketing graphics on the website.  All the carbon fabric layers are visible on the side of the body and the ceramic bezel's design looks amazing especially in the sunlight.

One man's food.... I've seen it in the flesh and it has zero appeal to me whilst I'm very appreciative of the looks of my Ti Gen 2 Aviator.
