Which band for MARQ Athlete Carbon (Gen2)

Hello,

I was in the shop yesterday to look at the Athlete. They were only able to present the standard Athlete and the Carbon Athlete. I was interested to see the Performance Edition, to check the black band, but it was ot available.

The ones they had, were presented with the silikon band, which I dislike (never used it on my Gen1).
If I go for the Carbon version, my main question is "Which band fits to this watch". Any opinions, maybe pictures?
I am using a titan band from Garmin on my Gen1, but feel it fits to the standard Gen2 only, not ot the Carbon edition.

One of my complaints about the Gen1 is the titan, which is too easily scratched, for my opinion. To those owning both Gen1 and Gen2, is the Gen2 less easily scratched, or is it the same?

  • I can't comment on the Gen1 but I think the Gen2 in titanium is very resilient. I've 'banged' it against various things in the time I have had it and to my surprise still looks like new.

  • Thanks you for your answer.
I remember from 2019, that the statement was 'best material we could find to prevent from scratching', but looking at ebay and the likes, you see that they do tend to scratch. Mine is no different after 4,5 years.
I try to find the information which titanium they used then and if it differs from the currently used material.
I am something like "if it still scratches easily, I might better go with the carbon", but then I need a fitting (non silicon) band.
If it is really better material, I would probably go for the performance edition, as it does look nice, to my opinion.

  • I currently wear the white silicon band (great for summer). I would never use the titanium band, does not match the carbon. Hesitant to buy the black leather band that comes with the carbon golfer but way too expensive and do not like the mismatched green accent with the gold of the athlete (+ clasp is not black!)

  • Hi,

It is looking very fresh, but sorry, I cannot be convinced of the silicon strap, just dislike it.

But of course thanks for sharing!!
I always like leather straps, except for excersices, I feel I damage them at once, just by sweating.

  • Ooh wow, these look fantasic. Sorry aleksiz :)
You added the DLC to the titanium description. Is this the 'better' version of titanium, allowing me to hope they do not scratch that easy?
Thanks for sharing!! Only it looks like I cannot purchase these here, did not see them with Garmin.

The first picture, that is not the one which is having red silicon inside, is it?

Maybe you have model-nr. for me?

  • I am not Aleksiz ;)
I came with pictures of what you requested.
I bought both titanium hybrid bracelets the DLC one with red silicone on the inside and the silver one with black silicone on the inside and I swapped the inner silicone between them. I find it looks much better full black and the silver with red I put on a Marg Captain gen 2 which fits great

  • I know you are not Aleksiz. Just a little bit earlier Aleksiz told, he disliked the carbon / titanium combi, but I like the looks. That's why I said sorry in his direction.
Thank you for sharing the pictures.
As usual, it is difficult to choose. The performance edition has the red button and black case, which I like a lot, but the carbon gives more confidence in not sratching.

I still did not decide. What I disliked that the shop was unable to show the display, as all devices are empty. I will try to bring charger next time around, so I can compare Gen1 and gen2 a little better.

  • I say get the carbon, it's incredibly comfortable compared to titanium ... I know I have it .... and you will never scratch it . It looks great with DLC titanium braces with any because it matches the frames and the back of the watch . Do not take the performance model as you will scratch it very quickly .

  • That is great advice, highly appreciated!!
Which one is yours, I do not see the yellow highlighted button, so I guess it is not an athlete.
