Auto Activity Start on Marq 2

Hello everyone!

I hope you can help!

I had a basic entry level Vivosmart 5 and it was doing a great job in starting automatically Walk Activity whenever I used to go for a walk in Thailand. After roughly 2 minutes of walk it would detect the walking and start activity by logging my steps, speed, heart beat, and GPS location, current weather... I could see all my previous walk stored in calendar with gps tag and even the weather that day.

I think this feature was called Auto Start activity.

Recently I bought the top of range Marq 2 Aviator and this watch does not do what the entry level used to do... Or maybe I am wrong and I can't find the setup? The MoveIQ feature in ON but I tried everything to find a way to activate the Auto Start Activity feature but I can't find it.

I followed setup instruction and went to gamin Connect<more<garmin devices< but I can't find anything related to Activity tracking...

Please can you help? I would be really disgusted not to have this feature on a 2.5k€ watch knowing that I swapped it from a 100€ watch that used to do it...

The Marq series does not support the Auto start activity feature. You will always need to manually start and stop your activities. The Move IQ feature is similar. When you go out for a walk, it will determine based on your motion if you are walking or running. And in your Connect account, you will see a small tag showing your were walking during that time. But Move IQ will not start an official activity recording.

  • This is quite unfortunate. My Samsung Galaxy, 1/4 the price of my Marq 2 does this elegantly. Garmin should be able to throw this in on the update. If I do not consciously select the activity and press start, it does not track. I'm hoping Garmin ups the game on this very simple firmware update.

    Thank you
