MARQ Watches vs. Tag Heuer Connected E4

I've read that the point of Garmin releasing the MARQ line was to compete with the likes of the Tag Heuer Connected. Comparing these two watches how does ot compare in terms of a luxury watch? The Tag Heuer Connected is, after all, a luxury watch. Thanks

  • This is the first I've heard that the Tag Heuer Connected (THC) was even part of the discussion.

The THC is an Apple Watch competitor - 1 day battery life, watch faces that have to be downloaded from the App Store, no ANT+ connectivity, etc.  Also, no sports analytics that can even be compared to the plethora of information available in the Garmin ecoverse.

The AMOLED screen on the THC has the same resolution as the MARQ watches, and is the same size.  The case is Titanium, as is the case on my MARQ.  The THC has a Water Resistance rating of only 50m compared to 100m on my MARQ.

I could go on, but the point is, if what you want is a pretty watch with a prestige brand that will not be used as a sports/outdoors watch, go for it with the THC.

If you want a quality tool watch with all kinds of versatility and support, then it's MARQ all the way.

And if it is important to you, the THC is made in China.

How does the MARQ compare to the THC?  It blows it out of the water.

NB. All opinions are expressed by an avid Garmin owner of many years, of course, after all - this is a Garmin forum.

  • Oh my God, how can you compare Garmin Marq with Tag Heuer Sh...t
I had an E4 for a month ( I got it as a gift ) and I can say its a piece of crap . Besides the battery is deplorable i mean 8hrs it's discharged , the software is crap , it doesn't stay connected with the phone in any way and the sensors are put there to be on the count .
You basically buy a premium Tag Heuer case to show off with it . Otherwise you have no benefit. It will stay on charge longer than on your hand and when you wear it it just shows you the time :) no claims to notifications or other things that won't work after 30 min .
Doesn't even compare to apple watch Ultra which works perfectly without any hassle .....apart from Tag Heuer
If you want an ultra premium watch Garmin Marq gen2 is top of the list.

  • That's interesting. I also have multiple Tag Heuer Connected E4s and all of them work flawlessly. I've had issues with other Wear OS watches but never with the Tags. Never had issues with the Bluetooth or with not receiving the notifications that I'm supposed to. The battery lasts about 2 days or 1.5 days, which is not bad, and it charges in about 40 mins. You must have gotten a defective unit.

  • I'm used to keep just like the Garmin the screen always on , 1 hour of gym a day and the battery never went over 8h . Connected to an iphone 14 pro max at that time and then to a samsung s23 ultra as I use 2 phones . On neither was it more breaz . I sent it to the warranty and it came back that it had no defect :) then I sold it to the first bidder .
To get over that mine was having problems , my friend who gave it to me as a gift , bought one for him too . Same problems he had and we joked about it for a long time .
If you were satisfied with the E4 it means that Garmin Marq2 you will praise it .

    • There is absolutely no comparison !
  • Deep down you know I'm right if you used E4. Relieved

  • Even though I prefer the marq series, I have to admit the watchfaces look fantastic on the TAG heuer. So many great watchfaces! Meanwhile there's only 1 good watchface per marq, which is locked on the respective models... I wish garmin would make all marq wathfaces available, and add the tactix (amoled), venu 3 watchfaces to the marq.

  • It’s not an AW competitor either, that’s an insult to AW, Tag has no LTE.
