MARQ2 Captain, Default face, X-axis shift when dimming and back

It may be me, but every time the watch face shifts from full brightness (and complete visuals) to dimmed (and partial visuals), there's a slight shift on x-axis. In other words, the entire watch face shifts a few pixels (maybe one, maybe more) to the left or to the right.

Pretty odd, I know. Am I the only one noticing this? Maybe my unit is defective?

I use Always On Display.

It's a common software trick used on OLED devices to try to prevent screen burn-in. You minimise the amount of pixels that are permanently lit due to stationary elements (such as the hour markers) by slightly moving those elements occasionally so different pixels are being used to draw them.

Lots of OLED TVs have a similar feature where the picture actually keeps shifting a few pixels at a time to 'move' fixed elements such as channel ID logos.

Interesting - thank you for the reply. So I guess it's not only my watch doing that?

Asking because I have never noticed such a behavior in the EPIX2, which has almost the same internals.

Not sure why they wouldn't do it on the Epix - pure speculation but it could be that the screens are from different manufacturers, and the feature is built into the driver for the MARQ one so Garmin decided to make use of it.
