Was curious what is driving the thickness vs. the Epix slate steel? The original Marq was 14.2mm and Epix is 14.5mm.
Would you say it is the domed crystal or perhaps the heartrate sensor ring? Hard to tell if the Marq 2 case matches the Epix case in terms of dimensions.
I can't notice a difference in thickness while wearing between the Marq 1 Athlete and Marq 2 Athlete. The Marq 2 is more comfortable despite the increase in thickness which is likely due to it being…
Here’s a photo. 
The actual watch thickness looks to be identical, but the sensor “bump” on the back of the gen 2 definitely protrudes further.
I believe it's a magnetic connection not a magnetic charger per se so probably of little consequence to the overall thickness.
But some sort of coil, etc. will be required to be placed inside the watch - certainly more than 4 traces to a PCB. But then, I have no idea - and neither do you
