i think its because they changed the charger the last minute. its now a cup type charger that the watch sits in.  I cant image hundreds of people pre ordered it yet.

That's interesting info.  The U.S. Garmin web site still shows the same type of magnetic charger as was shown on the first day the watches were released.

Do you have a pic of the new charger?  What is the source of your info?

I didn’t know, but I doubted that they sold that many devices at that $$$$ in 2-3 weeks. I have been pondering the “buy” and when I decided to pull the trigger, the page updated. It made me second guess… and now I’ll probably pass TBH. 

But, I do feel it’s poor form on Garmin’s part to make all who jumped on the “buy” the first week to wait. If anything, they should have shipped with the original charger, and sent the new for free later, when available, as a “thank you” for your commitment to the brand. 

I feel they knew this problem existed, and just made you all eat it. Just saying…

Good info.  Here's what the charger that was originally shipped to DCR for evaluation looked like:

And here's what the new charger that DCR updated in his blog on 20 OCT 2022 looks like:

That "new charger" looks the same as the charger that has been on the Garmin site since first release: Marq Gen 2 Magnetic Charger Cables

I agree with you.  I can easily imagine that the entire first batch of watches shipped with the "old" charger which would necessitate replacing it with the "new" charger after receipt at destination.

The fact that they didn't just throw an extra new charger into the order further leads me to believe that there may be something wrong with the old charger that they didn't want it in the hands of end users; but that's pure conjecture.

Hopefully Garmin will sort out the logistics sooner rather than later.
