Hi all,
According to Garmin support it is by design that the Garmin Instinct (and I believe all Garmin watches??) do not display the latest message from a chat app, such as Telegram, FB messenger, whatsapp, SMS (Google messages) etc.
Say for example you got 10 messages via Telegram, only the oldest message (could have been sent hours ago) shows unless you dive deep into the notification and scroll down each time (gets worse with more messages).
From the watch you cannot even mark messages as read, only dismiss which does nothing other than remove the notification, it still stays unread and in all future messages until you open it on your phone, which is not very convenient or smart.
Do we know if there are any plans to change this? I did think that this was a basic smartwatch feature.
Xiaomi fitness bands, WearOS, TizenOS and others all display the latest chat message when a new one is received as I'm sure most would expect. If you did want to see the old messages you could just go into/expand the notification. Surely this is a much better way of doing it??
I love the watch otherwise but I don't think I can live with this oversight. To me and I'm sure many others a smartwatch is about notifications at a glance, seeing what is going on without using your phone.
A simple mark as read would even fix the issue!
Example threads on the issue:

Looks like it has changed at some point?

My phone is still the same as I had with my other watches/fitness trackers. It's running pure Google AOSP Android 11. I have tried changing all of my notification options completely but none make any difference.
Does anyone know of any workarounds?
Thank you.
Garmin-Christopher I hope you don't mind the direct tag Chris but you've been very useful in these forums it seems.
