Instinct 2X backlight, changes based on mode normal?

I recently got a 2X solar and just noticed that, when I activate the backlight normally I get one brightness, but when I trigger an activity mode using the GPS button it increases about 10% or so? I checked the backlight settings and I have normal use and activity both set to 20%. I'm unsure if this is a bug or normal behavior

I have not noticed any such variation in backlight level between "normal" use and "activity mode" use on my Instinct 2X Solar Tactical.

All I can think of to account for your perceived 10% or so brighter backlight during activities is that you might have the background color in your activities set to "White" instead of "Black."

A white background on the screen would result in an apparent increase in overall brightness.

Try setting the background color on activites to Black and see if you still perceive an increase in backlight brightness.

there is also "during sleep" backlight setting, are you sure you check backlight during day time?
