New Instinct 2x Solar software version 2.06 with no update available

I've bought a new Garmin Instinct 2X Solar from Garmin and it is on 2.06 software version. All the settings on both the iOS Connect app and the watch are set to auto-update, and but no update in the last 3 days.

I don't own a PC/Mac, so Garmin Express is not an option to attempt solve this. Is there anything I can try to solve this issue?

I've read https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/instinct-2-series/332711/garmin-instinct-2x-solar-not-updating-firmware but I've already been waiting a few days, which seems quite a long time for a simple software update.

Also, what's the latest version of the software? If latest version is 12.26 as per forums.garmin.com/.../instinct-2x-system-software-12-26, I feel I'm missing a lot of bugfixes? Or is it Solar latest 3.11 and non-solar latest 12.26?

I am sorry there is an issue. There are times where if your new watch is on very, very early production software, it might not update through using the Connect Mobile APP. Your watch should be fully updated…

I have to say that I'm fairly disappointed as a customer, especially given that I bought the watch on a reputable merchant (the online Garmin Store) to avoid such problems.

I am sorry there is an issue. There are times where if your new watch is on very, very early production software, it might not update through using the Connect Mobile APP. Your watch should be fully updated to v12.26.

If you are Bluetooth connected through your Connect Mobile APP and the APP is left open and running on your phone, the average I have experienced over the years is receiving the new software update over the course of 4-6 hours the same evening.

If you continue to have the issue, you will need to gain access to a computer for 10-15 minutes max to download Garmin Express, add your watch to it, then update to v12.26. From that point forward, you will no longer experience the same issue that is taking place now due to the early software.

I do have access to plenty of Linux computers, but Garmin Express is not open-source, and you don't support Linux. I suppose there is no other way? For example, to drop the update file in the USB mass storage of the watch, and it will pick it up as update?

You can download a beta (side load) on the beta page. The side load files can be copied to the watch. The update also includes a file to downgrade to the latest stable version.

Note that the beta versions are not compatible with APAC (Asia/Pacific) devices.

Also note that downgrading will reset all the settings of the watch, and you will have to set it up again.

The files in the 'Sensor Hub' and 'GPS' folders need to be installed in the Garmin/RemoteSW folder..“

Hi Chris, i also facing the same issue where my new garmin instinct 2x also did not auto update and the version is stuck at 2.06, the box comes with usb cable type C which i cant plug in to my PC to use garmin express, can you assist me on this?

Hi There,

likewise my new instinct 2x was shipped with V2.06 software and unable to update - both Garmin Express mobile app and Mac (which is now 10yrs old and unable to update to the latest IOS & hence G Express App version).
