You won't lose any settings at all. Soft reset is just rebooting of the watch. It makes absolutely no harm.
ok, I did the trick and it works but you have to disconnect the watch from the phone first
Personally I forced the app to shut down, soft-reset the watch, restarted it, and then restarted the app. No need for disconnecting then.
This happened to me 2 times already.
Clearing Connect app cache and restarting the watched helped the first time. Just restarting the watch does not help.

If you have Garmin Explore installed on your phone, it's best to force stop/restart for both Connect and Explore apps.
You can set watch setting on both Connect and Explore apps. Howewer, it seems that if you open settings on Explore, settings stop working on Connect App.
