Garmin Coach benchmark run not completing

Is Garmin Coach 100% compatible with the Instinct 2? Reason I ask is I’ve carried out a coach training plan previously with an old Forerunner.

I looked to do the half marathon plan with the Instinct 2 and I noticed the coach didn’t appear in the glances screen like it used to.

I started the run app and I was prompted to carry out the first benchmark workout, the watch guided me through the workout, ended it, saved and synced to Garmin connect. Now I can see it in the app but the actual benchmark run is not showing as complete…

I’ve tried rescheduling the workout to a different day and back again as I read to try that as a possible fix. I’ve also changed the run to “training” instead of “uncategorised” but still no joy.

Hi Mike,

I currently also use the garming coach for running. I start the planned training via GPS -> run -> training.

Then after training/run is finished same steps as you did (save & sync). On the watch I can see the run under last sport and in the app as expected.

But there isn't any kind of status "completed" just the data of the run activity.

Did you check your calender? Are the next steps already scheduled?

Hello,

This is also how I performed it. But when I check the app the Garmin Coach part hasn’t updated and is still showing I need to do the benchmark run.
As it happens I also attempted it with my Fenix (skipped through the laps), synced and it completed the initial benchmark run straight away and showed me my next workout.

I think I’m going to have to use my old watch for this training which is annoying.

I use both my f7 and I2 solar interchangeably to execute my Garmin Coach plan without any sync problems. Maybe try to quit the Coaching plan and start a new one?

Are all other information synced properly?

Not sure if it could be a reason but did you switched on physio TrueUp

All seems as it should. I do have Physio TrueUp enabled on both watches.

Same here. I’m convinced it’s due to Garmin Coach not showing in the glances, this is where I start the workout from on my Fenix but I don’t get the option on the Instinct 2.

I don't think I've ever started the workout from the Glance/Widget. I almost always start from the Run activity where I'm prompted to "Do Workout". I have very rarely stared a workout from the Calendar Widget.

Mike just guessing - did you try to set I2 as your prefferd activity tracker?

Same here - to be honest I was not aware there is a Garmin Coach Glance/Widget. :-)

Yes I did, I’ve now changed it to the Fenix though.
