Backlight comes on with gesture with ALL backlight options set to off (Please no comments on wrong settings, have used plenty of Garmin watches including the Instinct)
I think it may be limited to after sunset to sunrise only? Annoying.

Yup, mine does the same. Light doesn’t switch on with every wrist gesture, but definitely does come on automatically sometimes. All gesture settings set to ‘off’. On firmware 6.12.
I can confirm this too, not sure what it triggered. There is a setting for during sleep, you can only set brightness and timeout, maybe thats the problem?
Looks like it is, as suggested, connected with times set for sleep. It is ONLY during these times that my backlight comes on automatically with a hand movement/gesture, which I definitely do not want!…
I was able to adjust the sleep times on the Garmin connect app under user profile.
Thanks Chris. What confused everything was my watch being set to military time. When I set it up I thought it was set to 12 hour by default. So I set it from 10am to 7am thinking 10am was 10PM. It needed to be set to 2200hrs to 0700hrs.
It worked for me too, since I set the correct time, everything is working fine
I have the same issue. I am turning it "OFF" for all settings (activities and general use) for backlight gesture, however the backlight is still turning on when I tilt or move my wrist. I have seen that some other users are experiencing the same problem and I wanted to raise this issue again to raise awareness.
I now realised it is linked with the "normal bed time" setting under user profile. the backlight turns on with gesture during the "normal bed time". if you set your bed time and wake time for the same hour, the backlight doesn't turn on with gesture. but this is a work around of the problem. this is not a sustainable solution.
Updated June 27th, 2022:
The issue has been resolved with software v8.64.
The only way I know how to get the backlight gesture to turn off during sleep time is to enable the do not disturb option.
I can not reach you (access denied), same issue here. Can you please send me the message? Thank you.
Reporting a bug in my I2STac backlight function as well. I've tried to make every change I can and the backlight keeps going on if I press any button during sleep hours. Very annoying.
Under general, I have all turned off. During sleep there's no option to turn it off completely. Is there some crossed over setting I'm not finding? I tried comparing it to my I1STac and the backlight there is set to not turn on unless I specifically turn it on, with the only exception being a gesture during sports after sunset.
